Bel Baggaley is a non-binary social documentary photographer based in London and Portsmouth, with a specialised interest in personal stories and topics related to gender; landscapes and infrastructure, post pandemic living, community and lifestyle.
As an English-American, Bel grew up alongside the South Coast of England. Splitting their childhood between the UK and Pennsylvania. In 2020 Bel to London where they studied BA Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at The University of the Arts London. When Bel is not in London, they can be found in Hertfordshire, Portsmouth and arranging frequent travels back to the United States to California, Vermont, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
Bel is also an avid enjoyer of some of Londons smaller collaborative art events such as;
Gob Jaw; a poetry collective that hosts regular collaborative events involving music and the arts, Blue Shout Poetry, Public Review at the Avalon Café which hosts a collaborative mixture of poetry, music, art installations and performance art. You may also find them mixing and building relationships with South Londons finest locals and attending and photography gigs.
Bel has been appreciated in their collaborative and sensitive approach to their work whilst maintaining clear visions of outcomes. Whether that is portraiture, a documentary style or something more experimental.
